As many of you may know, you can complete my BBG workouts (found in the SWEAT app) with little to no equipment. This is a great thing, especially for those people who can’t afford a gym membership or prefer working out in the comfort of their own home. I always get many questions about what equipment I WOULD recommend to buy, that you can easily store at home and help maximise your workouts.
Here is some of my must-have at home gym equipment:
Dumbbells
Dumbbells are that piece of equipment that you can use with virtually any exercise. They are a great investment because they don’t take up a lot of room and can help to add an extra dimension to your resistance workouts. My advice would be to buy 2-3 sets of varying weights, so you can use them for a variety of exercises. If you are on a budget, don't pick a set that feels super comfortable to use and hold. Instead, choose ones that are a little heavier (but not too much), in order to help you progress with your fitness. After all, you are only going to get stronger in time!
Bench
This piece of equipment is a little pricier than the rest, but SUCH as worthwhile investment in my opinion. Many of the BBG girls that workout at home replace benches with things such as tables, stairs and other household objects (which work fine too). However, having a bench is also great for exercises other than your typical step up ones, you can use it for arm and ab exercises too which makes it super versatile. If you follow my BBG workouts, you can also adjust the height of benches so that as you progress you can challenge yourself more.
Skipping Rope
I always get tons of questions about how girls can complete their cardio at home, if they don’t have a treadmill or don’t want to walk outside. A skipping rope is a great solution for all those cardio woes, because it helps to get your heart rate up quickly and takes up little room. If you are looking for a great one, check out my weighted skipping rope here.
These are just some of my faves and with these staples you can create and follow tons of different exercise routines!
Love, Kayla xx
